Round 6

So it’s been a while since I have updated the blog but its been a long time between rounds.

I have not been idol as you can see from the photo below. The full aircon system has been ripped out which means the car is almost 40kg lighter for it. I have also taken the back seats out and the rear seat belts and brackets which weighed in at another 40kg plus.

Round 6 is less than 48 hours away and it looks like it’s going to be a nice sunny day and i expect the track to be fairly busy. It would be great to set a new PB at this round but i am not banking on it. I will update Sunday.

4 PB’s in one day.

Saturday 3rd May was one of the top RWYB CC days on the calendar with racing through till 8pm. Banter in the pits was its normal self with jokes and the best thing that the challenge brings is the un endless amount of help people give if its needed. The sun was out the shy was blue an the wind was nowhere to be seen. My first run saw a 13.26 at 106mph and the first of the pb,s. The queues were never that long so I decided to give the car a chance to cool down after each run rather hot lap it. My next run was very strong through 1st and 2nd but i missed 3rd so had to double clutch which lost me a whole second and run a 14.01. my next next run was the next pb was a 13.25 at 105mph. I very strong run to the point i got a bit of blurred vision of the line. The track closed for lunch which gave me a chance to catch up with everyone and see how there day was going and unfortunately 2 of the cars were not running well so it was great to see everyone helping where they could to try and get them out for the afternoon session. The afternoon was a chance to improve on my reaction times and a 0.127 was my best of the day. My final run was the icing on my wonderful CC cake. A great launch perfect gear changes and the last 2 pb’s for the day. ET: 13.24 at 105mph and my best ever 60ft of 1.8seconds. Over all an awesome day. Not sure how many CC cars run so I look forward to seeing the updated table during the week. Until then  keep watching them lights.

Saturday Night Special.

This weekend see the next round of the CC Challenge.Weather looks good and car just needs to be fuelled and we are ready to go. Should be a good turnout and some good number run. There are a few nice cars coming up in the 13 second range so i thing it’s going to get close on the table. Will update on Sunday. Have a great weekend racers.

Another great day at the track.

Race day was off to a bad start due to the fact i feel back to sleep after the alarm went off so was 45 minutes late leaving home, good job the car was all prepped and ready to go. Arrived at the track just as sign on opened so everything was back on time again. Time to test out the new bonnet mod. There was quite a head wind so it was going to be a good test. So with the car fuelled up and the que still nice and shot I headed off. I drove around going in and out of all the gears to make sure all was well before i headed for the fire up lane. With only 5 pairs in front of me Idid not have to wait to long for my turn on the start line. Its funny how you still get butterflies before you reach the line but its all part of the fun. I took the right hand lane which i find tends to be the better lane at Santa Pod and headed for pre sage. I lit the top light then edged forward into full stage. I had decided that for my first run, reaction time was not important so with a 1.455 light i was off. I changed gear bang on the shift light and was through the top end at the end of 4th gear as the shift light lit up. The run felt really good and the drive back to the pit was one of wonder. I headed straight for the timing office to get my run ticket to see how it really went. Now my previous best was a 13,37 and what i saw on the ticket made me a happy bunny. 13.24 another PB. I was not only happy that it was a new best time but was also very happy the new bonnet mod had done the job as my top speed had gone up by 3mph at the top end so I will be keeping things as they are, also the fact we were running into a strong head wind made things even better. I managed to get in 8 runs in total but none of them faster but still in the low 13 second mark. My best reaction time for the day was a 0.197 so not to shabby. Next round is in 5 weeks so looking forward to that. I will post a link to the table once its updated.

New addition

So after seeing the bonnet lifting as i went through the top end i decided it was time to lose the large bonnet scoop as to be honest it is not needed as I have the front mount intercooler. So I ordered and took delivery of my new reverse scoop thanks to

A quick call to the body shop and its now away for spraying. They said it will be back in time for the next round where we can see what difference it makes. I will keep you updated.
